Windows 7 to Windows 10/8 Upgrade Issues and Solutions
Facing Challenges in Reverting to Windows 7 from Windows 10/8?
Unveiling the Root Cause and Workarounds for Incompatible TPM 2.0 Devices
For those attempting to roll back their operating system from Microsoft Windows 8 or 10 to Windows 7, a stumbling block may arise when dealing with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 devices. Unfortunately, there is no 32-bit driver available for TPM 2.0 devices in Windows 7. However, a solution exists by switching to the 64-bit version of Windows 7 and installing a specific hotfix.
To address this issue, Microsoft has released a hotfix (KB4084583) that provides support for TPM 2.0 devices in Windows 7 64-bit. It's important to note that there are no standalone drivers available for TPM 2.0 devices in Windows 7. Additionally, this hotfix is only compatible with Windows 7 64-bit.
If you encounter TPM 2.0 device installation issues in Windows 10 version 21H1, there's an alternative solution. Navigate to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Device security. Under Security processor, select Security processor details and then Security processor troubleshooting. Here, you'll find two types of TPM: fTPM (firmware TPM) and dTPM (discrete TPM). If you encounter fTPM issues, contact your laptop manufacturer for the necessary TPM driver.
